Entry requirements

Whilst not essential, our clients have shown an interest in candidates who possess some knowledge or experience in accounting practices. An understanding of computer and accounting software is also preferable. However, if the candidate is a keen learner and has great initiative and attention to detail then this is a great entry-level role to start an accounting career with.

What could you be doing?

Typical responsibilities for the Accounts Assistant jobs we represent include:

  • Providing support to the accounting team.
  • Full end to end AP (month end)
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Reconciliations
  • Other ad-hoc accounting duties


After several years of work experience, an Accounts Assistant/Clerk may expect to move into a more senior Accounts Assistant position or specialise in a particular area of accounting, such as Accounts Payable or Credit Control. Such progression may involve further study, such as obtaining a business certificate, diploma, or degree.

Although obtaining an accounting or business degree would advantageous, it is not an absolute requirement as some businesses may consider experience as equally important.
